Terms and conditions
These terms apply to everyone who uses ChitraBarta (chitrabarta.com), the art news and exhibitions site. By using the site, creating an account or registering for an exhibition, you agree to them. Please also read our privacy policy, which explains how we handle personal information.
Using the site
Reading ChitraBarta is free and needs no account. When you use the site, you agree not to:
- break the law, or help anyone else to;
- try to get into accounts or parts of the site that are not yours, or disrupt the site, for example by flooding it with requests;
- collect other people’s personal information from the site;
- pretend to be someone else, or give false details when you sign up or register.
Accounts
To publish, you need an account. Use your real name or the name of your organisation and an email address you read, keep your password to yourself, and tell us at once if you think someone else has used your account. You are responsible for what is done with your account.
We may suspend or close an account that breaks these terms, puts visitors at risk or is used for spam.
What you publish
You keep the rights to the posts, pictures and files you publish. By publishing them on ChitraBarta, you allow us, free of charge and for as long as they are published, to store and show them on the site and in previews of it, for example in search results and when a link is shared. Copies may remain for a short time after you remove something, for example in backups.
When you publish, you confirm that:
- you have the right to publish it, including permission from the photographer or the artist for pictures of artworks where that is needed;
- it is accurate, especially the dates, venue and opening hours of an exhibition;
- it is not unlawful, defamatory, hateful or misleading, and does not break anyone’s privacy or copyright.
We may hide or remove content that breaks these terms, or when someone with a fair claim asks us to. If you think something on ChitraBarta breaks your rights, write to us and we will look at it promptly.
Exhibitions and free tickets
Exhibitions on ChitraBarta are organised by the galleries and people who publish them, not by ChitraBarta. The organiser is responsible for the exhibition itself: its dates, venue, entry and safety, and any change or cancellation.
Tickets are free and limited to the seats the organiser offers. Each phone number can hold one registration per exhibition. A ticket is valid only for its exhibition and its number of seats; show it, with its QR code, at the door. Tickets taken with false details, or in bulk to pass on to others, may be cancelled.
Organisers may use the details of the people who register only to run their exhibition. They must keep those details safe and must not use them for marketing without the person’s consent.
The name and design of ChitraBarta
The name ChitraBarta, its logo and the design of the site belong to ChitraBarta. Articles belong to their authors. You may share links to anything on the site and quote short parts with a link back; copying more needs the permission of whoever owns it.
Links to other sites
Posts may link to other websites. We do not control them and are not responsible for what they contain or how they handle your information.
No guarantees
We work to keep ChitraBarta accurate and available, but we provide it as it is. Information about exhibitions comes from their organisers and may change, so check with the organiser before you travel. The site may sometimes be unavailable, for example while it is being updated.
Limits of our responsibility
As far as the law allows, ChitraBarta is not responsible for loss or damage that comes from using the site, from content published by others, or from an exhibition, including one that is changed or cancelled. Nothing in these terms limits a responsibility that the law does not allow to be limited.
Changes to these terms
We may change these terms as the site changes. The date at the top shows the latest version. If you keep using the site after a change, the new terms apply; if a change is important, we will say so on the site.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Bangladesh. If a dispute cannot be settled by talking to us first, the courts of Dhaka will decide it.
